Take the time...

I first took up photography to capture my children and the things I love.  As time has gone by I have found myself taking less and less of them. The other day the kids and I had nothing going on or anyplace we had to be for a few hours so I took the opportunity to capture my beautiful daughter.  We had so much fun.  I loved capturing her just playing, enjoying the things she likes to do.  Those to me make the best photos.

Eden has such a beautiful spirit.  She is kind, respectful, caring, beautiful, she loves God and has the biggest heart a little girl can have.  She is the one who is known for giving hugs to all the people she cares for.  She loves bright colors (I wish I had my 80's clothes back.. she would LOVE them), scarves, bags, peace signs, her friends & family and recently added our new puppy Bogey.

Here are a few from our day.

I love you Eden.

April is a birthday month in our house...

My daughter & I share the same birth month of April.  For me it was a birthday with a zero on the end usually meaning it is a milestone.  I still can't believe it but yes... I turned 40.  WOWZER--

I hadn't had any photos taken of me recently so what a great time to have a photo shoot.  My cousin Jen who is also a wonderful photographer did the session for me and they turned out great if I do say so myself.  It was so much fun too-  Here is one she took.

Eden turned 8 this month, which is so hard to believe.  She is overdo for her own photo shoot but here is a shot I took before her birthday party.  She is so beautiful- inside and out-.  I am so proud of her & her sweet heart.

DR Mission Trip- Part 6- The keys to Pastor Judes House

One of the GREATEST moments was the day Pastor Jude and his family moved in to their HOME.  Here are a few photos of the move in and handing over the keys.

Things that are standard for us are luxuries to them.

Some of the guys that help build the house.

What a wonderful day.  And God gets all the Glory!

DR Mission Trip- Part 4- Juanitos House

Can you say GIRL POWER... (with a couple good man too :)  The girls along with Jim and Ryan were pulled away from Pastor Judes house to go pour the foundation for Juanito who has been a staff member at the camp for over 11 years.  They were thinking it was going to take both the morning and afternoon to pour the foundation but the Girls Rocked it out and got it all done in the morning before lunch.  We were all covered in concrete and it was probably the hardest thing for us all week but it was SO MUCH FUN!  I would do it all over in a heart beat.

Juanito was so happy that at times he had tears in his eyes.  This will be with us forever.  He feel we have blessed him but really he has been the blessing to all of us.

My First Mission Trip...

Friday I will be leaving my home to go on my first mission trip.  Myself and 40 others from Riverside Church and the surrounding area will be going to Los Alcarrizos, Dominican Republic´╗┐.  We are going with the organization called unto inc. .

Unto inc. is an organization that facilitates short term mission trips to third world countries. Their purpose is to expose groups and individuals to showing Jesus in all that they do, developing partnerships with others to make a difference.  The community of Los Alcarrizos has a growing population of more than 300,000, most of who live on $3 to $4 a day.  Because unemployment is well over 37% and thousands of kids roam the street due to a shortage of class rooms, Unto International is responding to the needs of this community through multiple ongoing projects.  They recognize that education and vocational training will not only make a powerful difference in the child's life but will have positive impact on the entire family as well.  With our help they are changing a community one life at a time.

Here is a video from last years mission trip.

This year we are building a home for The Clervin Batiste family.

Pastor Jude and his wife Ismana are a Haitian-Dominican couple that have been living in the DR for the past 16 years.  Their children:  Manoa, Edrige, Bertha, Jenifer and Jimberly Clervin are 15,12,10, 9 and 2 years old respectably.

Pastor Jude and Ismana together have been pastoring La Iglesia de Dios (Church of God) for the past 10 years.  The church is composed mostly of Haitian emigrants of which, in the majority of the cases, are in the DR without a family.  For that reaso, they are more than postors; they are the only family to the members of their congregation.

The Clervin Batiste family has been moving from one house to another for the past 10 years.  Due to the low income typical of a pastor, they have not been able to afford to rent a home.  Instead they have had to use empty homes that are awaiting a renter.  Once the owner is able to find a renter, they are forced to move.  This past year they have already moved 4 times.

Jude's family was one of the first ones on the list of families that unto inc. have been thinking to build a home for, so they are excited after 15 years of waiting and prayers, they have the opportunity together with us, to be God's hands in the answer to their faithfulness and prayers.

I am so excited to have this opportunity to go and serve to help build this family a home.  I WILL have my camera of course, and look forward to capturing it all with it.  Mostly, I look forward to how God is going to use this to reveal things to me, and for this to be another step closer to him and his will for me and my life.  I would like to ask for your prayers.  For safety regarding our travels to and from, for when we are building the house and for our families back home while we are away.

I will be sharing everything with you when I get home- God Bless-

9 years ago January 5th I married the most wonderful guy I know.  It hasn't always been easy but there is no one on earth I would have wanted to go through it with besides Kevin.

This year is the first in many we were not in a car for our anniversary so Kevin surprised me with a wonderful weekend in GR.  Before we left town we stopped by our friend Jared's (www.orangeroomonline.com) office and he snapped some photo's for me that I thought I would share with you.  Literally I said, "here is my camera, just take some shots".  It took about 5 minutes and we were off.

I love you Kevin, so much.  I look forward to what God has in store for us this year & many more to come.
